Well Brian and I have 8 weeks left on our lease and we were looking to rent a different house. So we started talking about what we wanted, and what we could afford. After looking around a bit for a few weeks we decided that maybe we should look into buying a house. So we got pre-approved, and went house hunting. There are a lot of foreclosures in Florida and because we wanted to get a good house with a bit of equity at the time of purchase we decided to go ahead and look at a few. Here is what we found...
First we actually looked at a town house brand new never lived in.
Ok the fact that it is new is a great thing but... The builder went belly up and isn't going to finish the rest of the planned town homes. Not to mention the ground floor is really small and does not have room for a dining room table and a living room. It just wasn't what we wanted. This is one of the reasons we decided on looking into foreclosed properties. There is a lot more variety but you have to be careful what you get yourself into.
Take for instance the next house we looked at.
Ok so just by looking at this one you can pretty much tell the outside looks a whole lot better than the inside does. This was a 4 bedroom 2 bath 2000 square foot house that was in seriously messy condition. It is also a short sale which means that it may take a while. So we moved on...
And the last house we looked at was really clean, and quite nice
We looked at 4 houses. In the order of the pictures above. Now the last one was by far the only one in move in condition. However, it wasn't what we wanted or needed, and it cost more for less space. We really didn't care for the neighborhood either. While we have a little bit of time before our lease is up we really liked the 3rd house we saw. It had only been on the market for 4 days, and was priced really well for an 1883 sq ft. 4 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage, and a fully fenced back yard. We put an offer on the house and hope to hear back by Thursday 3/12/09.
It sure has been a while
