Brian and I went down to Titusville to watch the shuttle launch last Friday. We left home about 4:45 and when we were about 2 exits from Titusville the traffic stopped. It took us 40 minutes to get about 3 miles. When we finally reached the bottom of the off ramp and the stop sign we had 20 minutes until launch. So we make our left turn, and the traffic is not bad at all. However, about 2 miles down the road the situation changes, and since we don't really know the area and it's already dark, I am starting to get concerned that we are going to watch this from the car on the street. Brian decided to make a left turn onto what appears to be a residential street. Well at the end of this street is an abandoned parking lot which is almost completely empty. By this time we have about 5 minutes until launch. So we get out of the car, and it's really windy, but not too cold. We get our camera's out and are listening to CNN where they are telling us what is going on in the shuttle at that time. Then all of the sudden the sky lights up. So I am listening to Brian go nuts, and trying to figure out if my camera is recording or not. When you watch the video you can hear him... He is just like a little kid, it was so cute, and annoying. But you all know how kids annoy me. LOL Really it was cute. SO anyway.. here is the launch. If you ever get the opportunity to see a night launch you should take advantage.
It sure has been a while
