When you get the news "It's Cancer" many thoughts go through your head. One of them is always going to be "Will I lose my hair?" It is almost never going to be "Will I only lose some of my hair?" But that is how it was for Brian.
The first two pictures below are after about a weeks worth of radiation on Brian's head. We had already buzzed his hair with the clippers in hopes of hiding the hair loss. This worked for a little while, but not long enough.
The second two pictures are of Brian in his scarf/cover up. He started using this when it became obvious that he was only losing hair in a certain spot. I think he looks cute, but I am biased.
The last bunch of pictures are of our first experience in shaving his head with a razor. He is a big baby when we do this. He whines a lot!! But it can't be comfortable for him to have to have his head shaved. It's a miserable thing to have to go through.
When you look at these pictures after we have shaved his head you can still see where the radiation has erased the hair, and you can see the shadow of where hair will grow again.
I don't have any updated pictures but the hair is starting to grow back where it had been erased, though I think we have a while before it will be as full as it once was. All of his new hair is really soft, and a little sparse. He doesn't care as long as it grows back.
It sure has been a while
