Brian's spinal tumors have been giving him a lot of pain lately so we made an appointment with Dr. Ossi at St. Vincents hospital to determine if radiation thereapy is warranted. Brian had a bone scan done on Monday 3/8/10, and we had a follow up appointment on Thursday 3/11/10.
The tumors on his spine are at T12, T10, and T8, with the largest being on T12. Dr. Ossi says radiation will stop the tumors, and help to rid Brian of the pain. However, if the doctors in Tampa want to put Brian in a trial he may have to wait up to 8 weeks before starting. So, we decided to manage the pain in his back until we go to Tampa. Dr. Ossi prescribed Brian some meds for the pain. Brian is tollerating them well with no nausea, and he has been more mobile with this medication.
Despite the reason for our trip to Tampa we are looking forward to taking a mini vacation. We will update after the appointments on the 24th.
